Dr. Phillips's Classes for 10-29-12 to 10-31-12



Rhetoric II
This week in Rhetoric II, we will finish:
- Thesis sources, outlines, and early drafts
- Review of the 5 canons of rhetoric, particularly in light of thesis outlines and drafts

Antiquities
In Antiquities, we will complete our discussion of:
- The Egyptian civilization (distinctions and highlights)
- Begin our overview of the Hebrew civilization

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
·         Ancient/Greek biography due on Nov. 5th!
·         Tuesday – Eumenides, lines 408-end
·         Thursday – Antigone, pgs. 1-22

U.S. History
The U.S History class will continue discussing the events leading to revolution:
- Timeline of events in the War for American Independence
- Declaration of Independence
- American biography 1 due on Nov. 5th!

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
·         Tuesday – Give Me Liberty, pgs. 217-224 & Patriot’s Handbook, pgs. 116-119    
·         Thursday – Give Me Liberty, pgs. 225-248

Christendom
In Christendom, we will pick up with our discussion of:
- The Carolingian Empire/the Kingdom of the Franks
- The Arrival of the Norsemen

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
·         Tuesday – History of the Kings of Britain, part 2
·         Thursday – History of the Kings of Britain, part 3
·         Medieval Biography 1 due on October 31st!

Latin II
We will finish chapter 6 and prepare for the next test (ch. 4-6).  This week’s classes will include:
-          Chapter 6 passage translations
-          “The Curse of Atreus” (story – handout)
-          Preparation for the next test (over chapters 4-6)
