Dr. Phillips's Classes for 9-10-12 to 9-14-12



Rhetoric II
This week in Rhetoric II, we will discuss:
- Rhetoric and story-telling (connection between persuasion and stories)
- We will also continue our reading of The Best Things in Life by Peter Kreeft, examining his use of argument and proof.

Antiquities
In Antiquities, we will continue our discussion of the biblical foundations of history:
- The Flood of Genesis 6-9
- Uniformitarianism vs. Catastrophism

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
•          Tuesday – Odyssey, Books I & II
•          Thursday – Odyssey, Books III-VI

U.S. History
The U.S History class will continue discussing:
- Separatists & Puritans
- Plymouth Plantation & Massachusetts Bay
- King Philip’s War

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
•          Tuesday – Patriot’s Handbook, pgs. 59-65
•          Thursday – Patriot’s Handbook, pg. 82 & Give Me Liberty, Foreward-Chronology

Christendom
In Christendom, we will pick up with our discussion of:
- The decline and fall of the Roman Empire (the city of Rome, at least)
- The early days of Britain

Students will continue their assigned readings by the schedule below.
•          Tuesday – Song of Roland, stanzas 80-113
•          Thursday – Song of Roland, stanzas 114-173 

Latin II
We will finish up chapter 3 – second declension nouns.  This week’s classes will include:
-          Review of “Pandora’s Box”
-          Review for the first semester test, covering chapters 1-3
