Rhetoric II
This week in Rhetoric II, we will discuss:
- Ethos, pathos, and logos
- The 5 canons of rhetoric
- Guidelines for thesis topics
- Writing thesis statements
We will also begin our reading of The Best Things in Life by Peter Kreeft, examining his use of argument and proof.
Antiquities
In Antiquities, we will continue our discussion of the biblical foundations of history:
- What we learn from Genesis 1
- The significance of our theory of origins
Students will read Exodus 1-6 (Tuesday) and Exodus 7-14, 19-20:17 (Thursday)
U.S. History
The U.S History class will continue discussing:
- Early exploration and the historical events that prompted it
- The voyages, motives, and discoveries of Columbus
Students will read from The Patriot's Handbook (Tuesday - pgs. 21-22; Thursday - pgs. 22-27).
Christendom
In Christendom, we will pick up with our discussion of:
- Christianity's growth in the Roman Empire
- The intensity of persecution, beginning with the Jews
- The early Church fathers
Latin II
We will continue our review of:
- First conjugation verbs
- Work on chapter 1 translations
- Have our first vocabulary quiz of the semester
