Assignments & Plans for Dr. Phillips' Classes - 10/3 to 10/7

Apologetics & Worldviews for 10-3-11 to 10-7-11

In Apologetics & Worldviews, we will continue evaluating specific worldviews and ideologies, including naturalism, pragmatism, and pluralism.

Student will have their first test on Wednesday!

Antiquities for 10-3-11 to 10-7-11

The Antiquities class will continue studying the Fertile Crescent and move on to discuss the early civilizations there – including the Sumerians, Akkadians, & Babylonians.

Students will continue reading The Odyssey by the schedule below. The first test of the semester will be on October 11th.

Tuesday – Odyssey, XX-XXII

Thursday – Odyssey, XXIII-XIV

Christendom for 10-3-11 to 10-7-11

In Christendom class, we will complete our discussion of the Byzantine Empire, which will lead into the rise of Islam in the Middle East.

Students will begin reading The White Horse King by the schedule below. The first test of the semester will be on October 11th.

Monday – pgs. 37-57

Tuesday – pgs. 57-91

US History for 9-26-11 to 9-30-11

In U.S. History, we will work on catching up a bit this week – completing King Philip’s War, mercantilism, and moving into the struggles between the English, Spanish, and French. The first test of the semester will be on October 11th.

Students will continue reading Give Me Liberty by the schedule below.

Thursday – Give Me Liberty, pgs. 102-118

Modernity for 9-26-11 to 9-30-11

The Modernity class will the study of Nationalism and move into the Industrial Revolution – major inventors and inventions.

Students will continue reading Pride & Prejudice by the schedule below. The first test of the semester will be on October 11th.

Monday – Pride & Prejudice, chapters 57-end

Wednesday – Tale of Two Cities, Book I, chapters 1-4
